Seeing live performances at the 1894 Grand Opera House or Strand Theater is another popular way to pass time on the big island.

Galveston is a sightseer's dream, with the Historic Downtown District and landmark buildings such as the Bishops Palace sprinkled in among modern-day attractions such as the New Pleasure Pier, Moody Gardens and Schlitterbauhn.
