Welcome to MEMPHIS

Welcome to the "Home of the Blues" and Birthplace of Rock and Roll. Welcome to Memphis! You are an important person to us, and we want to prove it. Memphis has been fixing up and dusting off in preparation for your arrival in our fair city! Perhaps you are planning to conduct a little business, perhaps you are attending a convention, or maybe you are on vacation-whatever the occasion. Regardless of your occasion, we are delighted you chose Memphis. There are thousands of native Memphians and many more "transplanted" Memphians who proudly call this their home because of all it is and has to offer. The business slogan, "Distribution Capital of America," defines Memphis in the sense that the Mighty Mississippi meets several major rail lines and interstates, along with our beautiful and newly renovated Memphis International Airport to provide quick and efficient distribution capabilities. We are better known for being the "Home of the Blues," as you find Beale Street filled with clubs touting famous blues musicians and museums with extensive displays of historic facts surrounding the emergence of the blues. Additionally, we proudly profess to be the "Birthplace of Rock and Roll" Elvis, the King of Rock and Roll, called Memphis his home. The famous Rock n' Soul, Stax Museum, and Sun Studio tell the story of many other famous entertainers, as well who got their start right here in Memphis. Our city is also home to the National Civil Rights Museum, which is a must see for anyone visiting Memphis. This summer, two new attractions open their doors: the Blues Hall of Fame Museum on South Main and the Memphis Music Hall of Fame Museum at 2nd St. and Beale. This great city has many interesting sights to see, fun things to do, great places to shop, and some of the best restaurants to be found. Speaking of dining, it should be a crime for one to come and depart Memphis without having at least one meal of barbecue. We simply have the best! Making sure that you have an enjoyable experience is our #1 priority. History proves that if you like your visit to Memphis, you will come back soon-and bring a friend. There are friendly and helpful folks all over town delighted that you are here and ready to provide information or service with a smile. THANK YOU FOR VISITING MEMPHIS!!
